Who We Are

Our Team & Leadership

At Greater Works Church in Cedar Rapids, our leadership is made up of passionate individuals who are dedicated to serving the community and helping others grow in their faith.

Our Pastor: Craig L Purchase Jr

Our Pastor: Craig L Purchase Jr

Senior Pastor & Chief Servant of Greater Works Church

As a man of vision, Pastor Purchase is revered locally, and across this world as a dynamic vessel of integrity, leadership, and anointed worship. A native of the Chicagoland suburb of Joliet, Illinois, the elements of Pastor Purchase’s calling revealed themselves at a early age at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Lockport, IL to attaining 20 years of faithful work from Minister of Music to Youth Pastor at Mt. Zion Full Gospel Tabernacle Joliet, Illinois.

Pastor Craig was given a vision by God to start a ministry that would give back to the churches, as well as help the community. In 2004, CP2 Ministries was formed. This ministry would encourage the people of God; using the ministry of song and the preached word to reach the depressed and discouraged. And as a mentor of Morning Star Mission, Pastor Purchase spoke with power and authority; encouraging them to hold to God’s unchanging hands.

God has given Pastor Craig a mission, which has caused him to become a renowned servant, leader, and musician across the United States. Pastor Craig has shared the stage with Grammy award winners, such as, Darius Brooks, Vashawn Mitchell, Kim Burrell, Tye Tribbet and Byron Cage to name a few. Craig has become known for his ability to hear the voice of God and use his music to help usher in the presence of God.

All of this prepared him for his greatest calling – to birth Greater Works Church. GWC works to foster the believer in achieving their purpose in life and produce leaders who have the knowledge, values, and practical skills necessary to become effective in every corner of our world. The official launch of Greater Works Church was March 4, 2018 with a vision to be a Christ Centered Church leading God’s people to a Christlike maturity.

Pastor Purchase now resides in Marion, IA, and is happily married to Shonte Monique Gant-Purchase and has been blessed with five girls – Dominique, Lamaria, Diamond, Nia, and Kayla; and two grandsons, CJ and Ezra. Pastor Purchase yet shines as a people person with a special heart for the family of God.

As he motivates people everywhere with his endearing, heartfelt creeds like “We must be a Church that Builds, Strengthens, and Repairs” and to “Say what you see but See what you say”, Pastor Purchase is a God-loving leader of humility that continues to move effectively in his ministry, breaking down barriers of denomination while maintaining the basics of true gospel. Among these accomplishments, it is still clear that the best is yet to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

What time are your worship services?

Our worship services are held every Sunday at 9:00 am and 11:00 am.

Is there a dress code for attending services?

We want everyone to feel comfortable when attending our services, so there is no formal dress code. Some people prefer to dress up, while others come in casual attire. We believe that what you wear is not as important as the condition of your heart.

Do you offer programs for children and youth?

Yes, we have programs for children and youth of all ages. Our Kids Ministry offers age-appropriate activities, lessons, and games for children from birth through fifth grade. Our Student Ministry provides opportunities for middle and high school students to grow in their faith and build relationships with other students.

Can I attend services if I’m not a Christian or a member of your church?

Absolutely! Our services are open to everyone, regardless of their religious background or affiliation. We believe that everyone is welcome to experience the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

How can I get involved in serving at the church?

We have many opportunities for you to get involved and serve at the church. You can start by attending our Next Steps class, where you’ll learn more about the church and the different ways you can get involved. You can also check out our serving opportunities page on our website, or talk to one of our staff members after a service.
